Karl Urban starred in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings series as Eomer, and now the actor has revealed how he landed the role and the significance it had on the rest of his career.
Speaking to The Guardian, Urban said he struggled early on in his professional career in his home country of New Zealand. Relocating to Australia to find more work wasn’t exactly going to plan, so Urban moved back to New Zealand.
“I’m a firm believer in the philosophy, ‘An opportunity neglected does not often return.’ So I went back to New Zealand and did a bunch of New Zealand films.”
One of these movies was The Price of Milk from director Harry Sinclair. Sinclair was a friend of Peter Jackson, and he showed him a rough cut of that movie just as Jackson was casting The Lord of the Rings in New Zealand.Venir de Tragamonedas Gratis Online
“I just happened to be in Peter’s face when he was looking for someone to cast as Eomer in The Lord of the Rings,” Urban said. Appearing in The Lord of the Rings changed his life, the report said.
After the trilogy wrapped up, Urban was cast as Bones in Paramount’s 2009 Star Trek reboot, a role he reprised in Star Trek Into Darkness and Star Trek Beyond. He also played Judge Dredd in 2012’s Dredd and Skurge in Thor: Ragnarok. He currently stars on Amazon’s The Boys as Billy Butcher and is expected to come back as Bones in the next Star Trek film.
